This is Chicago. This is Chicago from the 94th floor of the John Hancock Observatory building.
Gorgeous.

In order to get to the top you have to pay your admission. Then you squeeze into an elevator that is the fastest elevator in North America. It takes you up to the 94th floor and makes your ears pop all the way up. I will say that while I thought it in my head, I did not say out loud that it would really stink if a "Tower of Terror" moment were to occur right now. It didn't.

It's really pretty up there and you can walk to all sides of the building in order to see all sides of Chicago. My favorite was looking South at all of the buildings. In close second came the North side where you see the lake and shoreline. Some of the buildings have pools on the roof, some have gardens on the roof, most just have plain roofs. The buildings are really cool looking though. Our giant hotel looks miniscule in the midst of everything else.

Cameron L-O-V-E-D the John Hancock observatory. Having no concept of how high up we were, he had a great time crawling around and looking down onto the city. He wanted to be as close to the window as possible so that he could bang on it. Yes, my son wanted to bang on the glass separating him from 94 floors down. No big deal.

And as if we weren't high up enough, he thought he'd try to climb a little higher.

And climb over the one bar separating him from said window. He loved it in here!

Future Architect anyone? Or skydiver? We'll see.

Cameron is SOOO big and SOOO tall!

There's also a little cafe up there that serves yummy snacks and I couldn't believe how sturdy and steady I felt even that high up in the air. The building structure was really amazing. It has big x beams going throughout the whole frame of the building and apparently those beams would keep it standing even without the walls. Pretty cool stuff!
